About Jobfarm

Jobfarm is a project initiated by the Royal Highland Agricultural Society of Scotland’s presidential team 2018. Its aim is to make young people aware of the wide range of careers and jobs in agriculture, food industries, science and rural businesses.

It offers work experience with a range of agricultural and rural employers. Currently  in the Lothians.

Who’s it for?

Jobfarm is for anyone 16 years and over:

  • Looking for work experience in agriculture
  • Looking for work in the agricultural industry
  • With or without qualifications
  • Looking for training or educational courses in agricultural industries

Looking for inspiration? Hear from young people working in rural jobs about why you should consider work experience in this sector.

Katrina Robb

A really rewarding industry

“It’s important to keep rural jobs going. There are not that many (farrier) apprentices being trained in Scotland, so it would be good to encourage more people to do the job.”
Katrina Robb , Farrier

No such thing as an average day

“There’s no such thing as an average day. It can be anything from ploughing to driving in the grain or repairing dykes and fencing. That’s what keeps it interesting.”
Stuart Lowe , Agricultural Contractor
